Artist of the Year 2019 - Liam F. Bennett

New York State 4-H Shooting Sports is proud to name Liam F. Bennett as their 2019 Artist of the Year!

Liam’s interest in art began at the age of six when he started drawing from VHS movie covers and coloring books. From there, he began to build skills and expand his knowledge of art. At the age of 13, he began painting model vehicles. The detail work was time-consuming and extremely tedious. It was that practice that helped build the discipline and technical skill that Liam uses in his work today.

Liam works with acrylic paint, graphite and charcoal. He looks to the works of Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso and Michelangelo for technical inspiration. By emulating the techniques of legendary oil painters with acrylic paint, he found he had begun to develop a style of his own.

For the past three years, Liam has been working hard through Instagram to influence others and reach out to different locations. He enjoys working with people to help customize and create original works that are 100% unique to them. A sampling of Liam’s extraordinary artwork can be seen on Instagram @fromthesoledesigns.

Quote Icon I enjoy painting people, wildlife, and farm scenery. There is a feeling of freedom that you get when you are outdoors whether you’re climbing a mountain or just walking through the woods and I try to capture that in my work. My goal is not to create the most realistic portrait on the planet, but to give life to my work. ~ Liam F. Bennett
