Emma Jenks, Dutchess County 4-H

Emma Jenks is a 12 year 4-H member from Dutchess County and a six year participant in the 4-H Shooting Sports program.  She is also a 4-H Teen Leader/Junior Instructor.  Emma’s participation in 4-H began with the dog, model horse and equine programs and she is very interested in pursuing work in the agricultural field.  Emma has held various officer positions in the Dutchess County Long Rifles 4-H Club, where she currently serves as President.  She has also attended various 4-H leadership programs, assisted with the delivery of 4-H Shooting Sports programming at the State Teen Action Representative Retreat (STARR) and most recently, assisted at the annual New York State 4-H Shooting Sports Banquet & Auction Event held in April in Lake George, NY.  According to her Instructor Sponsor, Sean Klay, “Emma is a natural born leader who gravitates toward leadership positions through her time in 4-H . . . Emma is also a patriotic American who has, since the time she was old enough to walk, accompanied her family in helping American Legion #178 decorate the graves of our local veterans prior to each Memorial Day.” Emma plans to attend the State University of New York at Cobleskill where she will major in Agriculture and minor in Business.

Eric Davis
Eric Davis, Oswego County 4-H

Eric Davis is 6 year 4-H member from Oswego County who started in 4-H during a summer camp Robotics activity which he greatly enjoyed and wanted to learn more about.  From there, Eric went on to become one of the founding members of the Taskmasters 4-H Club, a Robotics themed club, where he served as Vice President and then President for the past four years.  His CCE Educator, Linda Brosch, stated that although Eric joined 4-H because of Robotics, Shooting Sports is his favorite program.  At 16, Eric became a 4-H Teen Leader in Shooting Sports and has assisted with three six-week 4-H Shooting Sports sessions.  He has also represented 4-H Shooting Sports as a Teen Leader at the New York State Fair where he shared his interest and knowledge of firearms safety with the public at the NYS4-HSS Laser Shot booth.  According to his Instructor Sponsor, John Hudson, Eric “demonstrates discipline and order and genuine willingness to help and carry on the mission and principles of the 4-H Shooting Sports programs.” Eric plans to attend the University of Buffalo for Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering.
