Richard “Rich” Johnson of South Corinth in Saratoga County, New York is the 2009  “Artist of the Year” for the New York State 4-H Shooting Sports program.  Rich’s photographs were featured at the New York State 4-H Shooting Sports Banquet and Auction held on April 18, 2009 at the Roaring Brook Resort in Lake George.  Framed and matted photographs, including outstanding wildlife, nature and rural scenes from the foothills of the Adirondacks to the deep woods, highlighted the event.  Rich’s display of photography included his acclaimed maple syrup making images plus spectacular photography of the Saratoga Battlefield, Lake George, Adirondack deer, chickadees and wild turkey.

Rich Johnson studied photography at the Junior College of Albany while serving as the staff photographer for the New York State Bar Association.  His love of wildlife and nature developed during his years spent hiking, camping and hunting in the Adirondack and Catskill Mountains regions of New York State.  Rich’s nature photography combines his skills in photography with his great passion for the outdoors.  His photographs have been featured in the Saratoga Arts Council as well as in Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand’s office in Saratoga Springs.

Each year, the NYS 4-H Shooting Sports featured artist is promoted with items found in the live and silent auctions and in the ticket drop activities.  We are proud to have Rich Johnson as our 2009 Artist of the Year.
